Subject: Planned Demonstrations in front of government buildings on July 23, 2009
The Embassy wishes to inform American citizens in Slovenia of demonstrations planned for July 23, 2009 in downtown Ljubljana. Protests will be staged in front of the President and Prime Minister’s offices in the area of Gregorčičeva and Prešernova streets, but the participants might move to other locations during the protest. There is no information as to how many protestors will take part in these demonstrations, though rough estimates indicate that more than one thousand people may show up.
American citizens are advised to avoid the areas of demonstrations if possible, and to exercise caution within the vicinity of any demonstrations. American citizens should stay current with media coverage of local events and be aware of their surroundings at all times.
