U.S. Professor Offers an In-depth View of the 2008 U.S. Presidential Elections
In a series of talks in Ljubljana and Koper, Professor Eric Uslaner explained characteristics of this year’s American elections, issues that occupy Democratic Party candidates and general topics that will prevail in selecting the next U.S. President. He also touched on the presidential election system and the issue of popular vote versus delegate votes. Professor Uslaner addressed undergraduate students at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, graduate students at the Law Faculty, University of Maribor, and graduate students of American Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. Approximately 200 students attended his talks. He also addressed the general public and students from the University of Primorska at post’s America Corner in Koper. He spoke at a media roundtable with five media outlets, and attended a reception for post’s America Days cultural festival where he had an opportunity to speak with the diplomatic corps and close Embassy contacts. Before his departure he met with a Vice-President of the Slovenian Constitutional Court.
