Lively and productive discussion at Roundtable for studying in the US
On April 21, approximately 20 people took part in a round table discussion about studying in the United States. The discussion was hosted at the American Corner in Koper on the campus of the University of Primorska. In addition to the students in attendance, two American Fulbright Students, an American professor, and a Public Diplomacy Officer were on hand to lead the discussion and answer the numerous and varied questions. Discussion focused particularly on how to choose an appropriate university, when and how to apply, and how to fund an education. University level education in the United States is significantly different to that in Slovenia, and the application process was baffling to many of the students present. After almost two hours of conversation, the students left armed with information, and several mentioned that they felt more confident to apply than they had before the roundtable, but all claimed they would return to the American Corner for additional assistance with their search and application process.
