Embassy Officer Sarah Gjorgjijevski and IRC Director Breda Popovič recently experienced Škofja Loka hospitality, on a visit to OŠ Škofja Loka.  The students started their visit with a warm welcome, followed by with a short presentation of the school, a performance by a student folklore group, with 7th grader Tilen Eržen playing the accordion, and two funny plays by the drama club.  In between, Mrs. Gjorgjijevski introduced herself and what she does at the U.S. Embassy, and answered the students’ interesting and numerous ( 31!) questions about school life in the U.S., education, sports, music, and hobbies. They also asked some more difficult questions: about Slovenia’s small market and her business position, trade, taxes, economy, President Obama’s reforms, etc.
At the end Mrs. Gjorgjijevski surprised the students with homemade brownies, and promised to share the recipe with the school.
We were also honored with the presence of the Mayor of Municipality of Skofja Loka, mag. Mr. Miha Ješe, who took the time to be present throughout the event.  Our sincere thanks go out to the school’s Principal Ms. Kužel, school mentors Ms. Hafner and Ms. Mahnič, who did so much to make us feel so welcomed.
