International Model United Nations in Slovenia, March 6-8, 2008
The US Embassy supported the first International Model United Nations to take place in Slovenia. This project involved more than 50 students from different countries, providing them with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the United Nations. The goal was to enable the students to find out what positions various countries take on issues of intercultural dialogue and trafficking in persons and to give them broader and overall understanding of these issues. Additionally, they were exposed to interactions and conflicts of national policies in the discussion of world issues. Such simulations also included debating priorities of the EU Presidency. Participants gained insight into the process of negotiation and diplomacy. Final adopted resolutions will be sent to Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Slovenian UN Permanent Mission.
