USS Mount Whitney Draws Attention of Slovenes in First Visit of the 6th Fleet Command Ship since 1997, July 7-12

The Command ship of the Mediterranean Fleet, the USS Mount Whitney made a port call in the Slovene port of Koper from July 7-12 during which the crew and sailors engaged with the Slovene community in numerous ways, including a media tour and briefing by Captain Kuzmick and a reception for Slovene officials that included the Minister of Defense and the Prosecutor General.  The overall purpose of the visit was to maintain and improve existing good relations and to work with the Slovene military to improve regional maritime security.  The sailors took part in friendly volleyball matches and visited the towns along the Slovene coast while Slovenes were invited to tour the flagship of the 6th fleet.
