Embassy Offices
Public Affairs
The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy is responsible for explaining American foreign policy to overseas audiences, and promoting U.S. national interests through a wide range of information, educational exchange, and cultural programs to increase mutual understanding between the U.S. and Slovenia.
Public affairs activities are carried out by the following Public Affairs Section offices:
The Press Office, which arranges press conferences, briefings, and interviews. Initial press inquiries for any section of the Embassy should be directed to the Public Affairs Section at 200-5753 (Lojzka Iskra, Press Coordinator) or 200-5762 (Public Affairs Assistant).
- The Exchanges Office, which administers a variety of educational exchange programs, including the Fulbright program. Although opportunities for scholarships are limited, a large number of scholars and researchers do come to the U.S. each year to take advantage of our advanced and frequently very specialized educational and professional development programs.
- The Information Resource Center (IRC) provides current, authoritative information about the United States to Slovene officials, professionals, and academics. Resources available at the IRC include on-line and laser-disk data bases. The resources of the IRC are intended to meet the interests of Slovenes who for professional or research purposes need reliable information about the United States, its policies, and their impact on current affairs.
