Passport Validity
U.S. law states that a passport must be valid for six more months beyond the date of entry into the United States. However, the United States has agreements with certain countries to waive this requirement, and Slovenia is one of those countries. For the full list of these countries, please see the Department of State's web site.
What does this mean?
It means that Slovene citizens can use their passports to enter the United States even if the passport has less than six months validity remaining, but the traveler will only be permitted to stay in the U.S. until the expiration date of the passport. If your passport will expire while you are in the United States, then you will be required to apply for a new Slovene passport from the Slovene Embassy or nearest Consulate while you are in the United States.
If your visit will be of short duration, during which time your passport will expire, then we recommend that you obtain a new passport before traveling. Such action before you depart for the U.S. will save you the inconvenience of applying for a new passport and an extension of stay.
