Photo Requirements

The requirements for a passport photograph are quite precise. Our computer system may reject a photograph that does not meet the specifications, causing delays in issuing your new passport.

Photographs must be 5 cm x 5 cm in size, excluding any white borders.  The image size, from the top of the head (including hair) to the bottom of the chin, should measure between 2.5 cm and 3.5 cm. The photograph must be in color, and you must face forward towards the camera (no side or angled shots). The photo background must be light in color, preferably white or off-white.  Unless worn daily for religious reasons, please do not wear a hat or any head-covering, and do not obscure any part of your face. You may wear eyeglasses, but please do not wear sunglasses for the photo.

Photos for U.S. passports are different from those for Slovene passports, so do not just ask for "passport photos" at a Slovene photo studio, because the photos you get will be too small.  Below you will find the photo requirements written in Slovene; you may print this page and present the text below to the photo studio to ensure you receive the proper photographs.

Although we will accept photos from any source as long as they meet the requirements specified above, for informational purposes we report that the nearest photo studio to the Embassy is DIA Studio, located at TomšiÄ?eva ulica 4, just before the intersection with Slovenska cesta, about two blocks from the Embassy.  Photos there are developed in about 20 minutes, and cost €7.60.

Fotografije morajo biti dimenzije 5 x 5 cm brez belih robov.  Od brade do vrha glave (vkljuÄ?no z lasmi) naj fotografija meri od 2.5 cm - 3.5 cm. Slike morajo biti barvne in s pogledom direktno v kamero. Ozadje fotografije mora biti zelo svetle barve, po možnosti belo.
