American Rocker At Premier Music Festival, Bled, August 11

The U.S. Embassy sponsored the performance of U.S. rock artist Elliott Murphy at Slovenia’s longest-running and most popular ethnic music festival – the Okarina Etno Festival – in the mountain city of Bled. An enthusiastic audience of more than 300 people clapped, sang, and jammed with Murphy and his band at the lakeside venue. Slovenes and foreign tourists alike stayed through the rain to nearly midnight, requesting encore after encore.
The festival showcases Slovenian and international music, with the goal of introducing world music to Slovenians and the numerous European tourists who visit Bled during the summer. The festival included several performers from the U.S., Croatia, Austria, the United Kingdom, Scotland, Italy, Brazil, Romania and Slovenia.
