Youth Representatives of South East Europe PfP Countries Learn from Slovenians About NATO Accession Process, June 28
Thirteen young Bosnians, Kosovars, Montenegrins and Serbians participated in a two-day program, “NATO and PFP: Prospects for Balkan Countries” organized by the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia and the Center for Regionalism in Novi Sad with financial support from the U.S. Embassy Belgrade.
The participants, already active in NATO education activities, found the meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the University of Ljubljana and the Slovene Parliament to be very valuable for planning their own grassroots NATO campaigns. Participants told Ambassador Robertson and representatives from the US Embassy in Ljubljana that “discussions made them even more firmly convinced of the need to advocate accession to NATO and make citizens aware that NATO is a union of values that brings benefits, including opening the door to further European integration.”
