Finding a Missing Person in Slovenia

In our experience, 99% of all missing persons eventually turn up safe and sound.

However, if you need to reach someone in Slovenia because of an emergency or because you are worried about his or her health or welfare, please contact the Embassy using any of the means listed in the Key Information box. You can also contact the State Department's Office of Overseas Citizens Services in Washington at (202) 647-5225, and that office will pass the information to us in Ljubljana.

Please provide as much information as you can about the person and his/her travel itinerary.  We can contact Slovene immigration, the police, hotels, transportation companies, and even hospitals and morgues if necessary.

If we locate the person, then we will pass along any message you wish.  However, you must understand that not everyone wants to be found, and the person who is “missing” has rights under the Privacy Act -- even minor children.  If we find that person, and if he or she then does not wish us to reveal any information about his/her whereabouts or condition, then we are bound by law to respect those wishes.

For more information, please see the Department of State’s web site.

Finding a Missing Person in the United States

The Embassy is unable to assist you in finding people in the United States. You may wish to use on-line locator services, such as www.switchboard.com or www.anywho.com.

If you are looking for a person in the U.S. who is not an American citizen, you may wish to contact the Embassy or Consulate of the country of which the person is a citizen. For contact information for the Slovene Embassy and Consulates in the United States, please click here.
