Emergency Visa Interview Appointments

Emergency requests for an expedited interview appointment may be granted for the following reasons:

  • Emergency medical treatment, including those who need to accompany the individual requiring treatment, such as parents or caregivers;
  • Students and exchange visitors in danger of missing the start of their program;
  • Emergent business travel;
  • Family emergency, such as death;
  • Other emergencies, such as required appearance in a U.S. court.
  • You should be prepared to present evidence of the emergency situation.

    Applicants who must travel to the United States on an emergency basis should first make an appointment using our online system.  Make an appointment for the closest date and time to the one you seek.

    Once you have made that appointment, please contact our office during working hours using any of the means listed in the Key Information box on the right hand side of this screen, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

    Please include in that request the date and time of the appointment you were able to make, the date you prefer, your full contact information, your proposed travel itienrary, and an explanation of your urgent need for travel.

    Every request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis in light of the merits of the situation, the timing involved, and our workload.  We cannot guarantee that every request will be granted, and an expedited appointment in no way guarantees issuance of a visa or same-day processing. We encourage all applicants to apply early for their U.S. visas.
