Deputy Chief of Mission Maryruth Coleman hosted women managers’ roundtable on entrepreneurship in Slovenia, February 7, 2007, Ljubljana
On February 7, DCM Coleman hosted a business roundtable focused on the challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurs in Slovenia. The event brought together 11 prominent Slovenian businesswomen to discuss current challenges and the way forward for Slovenia in order to increase business growth through entrepreneurship. DCM Coleman opened the meeting and then invited entrepreneur and member of the Slovenian National Council, Marta Turk, to share her experiences in promoting women and entrepreneurship in Slovenia. A lively discussion followed. Some topics addressed during the meeting were: reasons for the low percentage of young women in business, increasing participation of the business community in the mentoring of students, and identifying opportunities for the U.S. Embassy to cooperate with Slovenian business people to promote U.S.-Slovenian business relationships.
