Embassy Delegation Visits Southeastern Slovenia, June 13, 2007, Brežice and Cerklje Airbase

Ambassador Robertson, Defense Attaché Lt. Col. Keith Harrington, and Political-Military Officer Philip Beekman visited the municipality of Brežice and the military airbase in Cerklje June 13.  In Brežice, Ambassador Robertson met with Mayor Ivan Molan and Vice-Mayor Patricia ÄŒuler to talk about city issues and toured the Government of Slovenia office in Brežice with Darko Bukovinski.  The group also visited Brežice Castle for a tour with Museum Curator Tomaž TeropšiÄ? and a wine tasting in the Castle Wine Cellar with local members of the Slovenian Officers Association.  Major Cvetko DaniÄ?iÄ?, Commander of Cerklje Airbase, and Lt. Col. Miran Grahek, Commander of the Slovenian Air School, hosted the delegation at Cerklje Airbase and talked about their plans to upgrade the base to meet NATO standards.
