“Biking for Life” Charity Ride Raises Funds for Children’s Surgical Ward, Kostanjevica na Krki, May 26
“Biking for Life,” a charity cycling tour to benefit the Children’s Surgical Ward of the Ljubljana Clinical Center, took place in Kostanjevica na Krki on May 26, with nearly 200 cyclists taking part. A joint project by the U.S. Embassy and Le Monde Diplomatique, “Biking for Life” raised funds to purchase a ventilator for the Children’s Surgical Ward to help children whose lungs have failed. Prime Minister Janez Janša was the Honorary Sponsor of “Biking for Life.”
Starting at the Cistercian Monastery in Kostanjevica, the cyclists completed either a 26 km or a 52 km loop. Funds to purchase the ventilator for the Children Surgical Ward were donated by sponsors and the cyclists who registered for the ride. This is the second annual charity ride, following last year’s successful “Biking for Darfur” event.
