Big Band Grosuplje Concert Part of America Days , Grosuplje, March 15, 2008
More than 100 people enjoyed Big Band Grosuplje, a band of talented students, as they performed American Music at the Cultural Center Grosuplje. U.S. Chargé d'Affaires, Maryruth Coleman opened the evening with remarks, noting that Grosuplje has been a strong participant in America Days hosting two concerts (including an American high school orchestra next week) as well as displaying a collection of sculptures by the American artist John Antone at the public library.
A young talented singer Tina Gačnik -Tiana joined the band with the songs “New York, New York” and “My Way”. The concert featured music of American composers Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Bill Holman, Rick Stitzl, Bob Mintzer, Pate Metheney, as well as the songs of the legendary Frank Sinatra. Big Band's talent and enthusiasm were contagious and the entire audience, including the mayor of Grosuplje, clapped in time with the rousing finale.
