Defense Attache Keith Harrington's speech at the memorial ceremony in honor of Captain Charles Fisher
December 27, 2005
Kamnik, Slovenia
Good afternoon. Mayor Smolnikar, Mr. Bob Plan, members of the League of Combatants, members of the former Office of Strategic Services and Special Operations Executive, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen.
I would also like to thank you for your invitation – it is both and honor and privilege to share in this memorial celebration today.
Today is a special day in which we gather to honor Captain Charles Fisher.
Those that I had the privilege of meeting at the Skrbina memorial ceremony have heard the following thoughts before. I apologize for repeating myself, but these thoughts are personal and very dear to me. To pay tribute to Captain Fisher and those that served with him is very dear to me. Captain Fisher’s legacy is a very important part of my history and the history of the US Special Forces. Our distinguished lineage is traced to the US Office of Strategic Services and the British Special Operations Executive, whose members supported the fight against fascism with their Slovenian brothers-in-arms. Captain Charlie Fisher and his brothers-in-arms built the legacy upon which we stand. I thank you for that noble lineage to which we trace our roots.
Again, thank you for the honor and privilege of sharing in this memorial celebration. May God Bless You and Slovenia.
