Applying by Mail

For certain passport services, you may submit the application and all of the supporting documents by mail, and we will return the finished product to you by mail. For other services, U.S. law requires that the applicant appear in person.

Which Passport Services Qualify?

If you are not applying for one of the passport services listed below, then you must appear in person at the Embassy. You cannot apply by mail. Please follow the instructions included with the service you seek.

If you are applying for one of the passport services listed below, then you can apply by mail. Please follow the instructions included with the service you seek, as well as the additional instructions here for applications by mail.

How to Apply by Mail

If your requested passport service is one of the ones listed above as qualifying for application by mail, then please follow the instructions included with the service you seek, and mail to us at the address listed in the Key Information box above:

  • the signed application form
  • your current U.S. passport
  • any supporting documents required for the service you seek
  • a self-addressed envelope with appropriate postage from Pošta Slovenija
  • payment

How to Pay

When applying for a qualified passport service by mail, you must pay the required fee by using a credit card.  Download the credit card payment form, complete it, sign it, and enclose it with your passport application and supporting documents. Passport fees will be charged to your card in U.S. dollars.

If you are sending in more than one application, then please send only one credit card form, made out for the full amount of all services requested.

The Embassy cannot accept debit cards, any credit cards other than those indicated on the payment-by-mail form, personal checks, cash by mail, or overpayment amounts.
