The adoption authority for Slovenia, the Ministry of Labor, Family and Social Affairs, has advised the U.S. Embassy that Slovene law only permits international adoption if no Slovene adoptive parents can be found. The number of Slovene adoptive parents waiting to adopt is very long as there are few children eligible for adoption.
