Ambassador Robertson and Foreign Minister Rupel Announce Slovenia’s Progress in Preventing Trafficking in Persons, June 12
On June 12, Secretary Rice introduced the seventh annual Trafficking in Persons report, calling for global leadership to “not just to confront this crime, but to abolish it.” On the same day, Ambassador Robertson joined Foreign Minister Dmitrij Rupel to announce that Slovenia’s efforts to fight trafficking in persons have resulted in Slovenia being ranked among 28 other countries as doing the best job of controlling human trafficking, prosecuting those involved, and supporting and assisting trafficking victims. Ambassador Robertson congratulated Slovenia for its success and noted that the State Department’s report was an important acknowledgment of Slovenia’s efforts and coordination between government ministries and NGO’s. He stressed that our work continues and that Slovenia will be an important partner in this fight in the Western Balkans.
